Out To See The World is a travel blog covering the travel desires and dreams of a mid-western couple seeing their town, their country and their world. While some of our destinations are somewhat ordinary, most involve some kind of twist as we love to travel in our 1965 Mustang (and sometimes a newer one). We have a quest to visit all 30 Major League Baseball parks. We also love Kansas City BBQ, but we have tried lots of others too!
We moved to Kansas City to take our first jobs out of college and have lived in the KC metro area since 1988. We love this city! It is one of the best places to live with great food, great entertainment and a great quality of life. We are also proud of our mid-western roots (both of us were born and raised in Kansas), so travel in Kansas and Missouri are always on our agenda. One of our blogs will be about our love for BBQ. We’ve been to many of the great BBQ restaurants in Kansas City, and we’ve tried other BBQs across the nation as well.
We have always done writeups on our road trips as members of the Mustang Club of Greater Kansas City, with quite a few posted on the club website and in our club newsletter. As we have traveled to Mustang Club of America events across the nation in our 1965 Mustang GT, we’ve logged 36,000 miles while showing in the Driven Concours Class (i.e., restored to factory specifications) which isn’t an easy feat with no power steering, no cruise control and no air-conditioning! We don’t do as many trips as we have in the past, so we’ll dust off a few of our past articles and add some new ones along the way.
We started “collecting” visits to Major League Baseball stadiums in the late 80’s, and when MLB clubs plan on building new stadiums, we plan on visiting the old stadiums before they are demolished. Since we were both working, we took vacations to the larger cities and took in the sites and the ballparks as part of our visits. Most of the time, one or two a year, sometimes as many as four on one long road trip. We have a few cities left, but most we’ll have to revisit to see the new ballparks! We’ve also done a few minor league games, visited the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown a few times, and Lorne has had the privilege of participating in the Kansas City Royals Alumni Fantasy Camp in 2012 and 2014. Lorne wrote up some really good articles on those visits he posted on his website, so he’ll transfer those over to our new blog. Our plans are to make a 30 MLB park road trip in one summer, making sure to take in all of the lower 48 on the way. One busy summer coming up soon!
What You Can Expect
If you’re looking for a travel blog written by a couple of millennials who took a chance, quit their jobs and went traveling and had lots of extreme adventures, this isn’t it. That isn’t to say we don’t have fun, we’re just past the point where climbing a mountain, going scuba diving or bungee jumping is our idea of fun. We always traveled as much as our careers would allow, and some trips were work related, but now that we’re retired, we thought we’d put our writing and computer skills to work and start a blog to have some un and share it with others! We hope you enjoy!
