We kiss the flag for good luck, we wear the same shirt for days,
we all have our rituals to help the boys make the plays.
Game 4 started out with KC needing some luck,
at least it didn’t start off with Esky needing to duck.
Up two games to one, it’s just not enough,
these Mets are still scrappy, these Mets are still tough.
The Mets got some breaks, the Royals did not,
we can’t let these Mets begin to get hot.
The Mets got two dingers, and a run on a sac fly,
we can’t let this series get to a tie.
With a 3-2 lead, the Mets went to their pen,
just 6 outs more it would be even, but what happened then….
With one out in the eighth, Ben walked to get on base,
when Cain walked too, a silence fell over the place.
Hosmer hit one to Murphy, the Met’s playoff VIP,
it went under his glove, it’s now tied 3 – 3.
The Royals comeback kids, they just do what they do,
they kept the line moving, they now lead by two.
Wade Davis was brought in for a six out save,
the eighth went by quick, the ninth was more grave.
The last half of the ninth came round, the Mets need to score,
when Murphy hit safe, the crowd began to roar.
Cespedes followed with yet another hit to right,
the Mets wouldn’t go quietly in the New York night.
One out and two on, three runs would win the game,
a homer by Duda would bring him much fame,
A dismal groan in chorus rose; a scowl was on each face,
as Duda lined out to third, and Yeonis doubled off first base.
It seems the Royals had a few tricks up their sleeves,
by swinging the bats and playing tough “d”.
At the end of the night, they’re up three games to one,
end it in New York, we’ll still have our fun.
